Ancient texts describe that the Kshipra River is among the four rivers sanctified by the drops of amrit (nectar) that fell during the divine event of Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean). For centuries, saints, sages, and devotees have considered Ram Ghat a sacred place for prayers, rituals, and spiritual practices, making it one of the oldest and most revered ghats in Ujjain.

Ram Ghat is believed to possess immense purifying powers. Taking a dip in the holy waters of the Kshipra River at this ghat is said to cleanse devotees of sins and grant spiritual liberation. During Simhastha Kumbh, the ghat transforms into a sea of faith, where millions gather for ritual bathing and offerings. Even outside of Kumbh, devotees perform pujas like Pitru Tarpan, Kalasarpa Dosh Nivaran, and Rahu-Ketu Shanti here, seeking peace, blessings, and salvation for themselves and their ancestors.

The nearest major railway station is Ujjain Junction, situated around 5 kilometers from Ramghat. Local transport options such as auto-rickshaws, cycle-rickshaws, and taxis are easily available outside the station to reach the ghat.

Road

Ramghat is well connected to Ujjain city and nearby regions through roadways. The Ujjain Malipura Bus Stand is just 3 kilometers from Ramghat. Regular buses operated by the Madhya Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (MPSRTC) connect Ujjain with major cities in the state, while several private bus operators also provide services from nearby towns and districts.
